Have you seen Laura Smith at any of the belly dancing venues around town? She can also be seen dancing around a bonfire at some of the festivals. She is not only a beautiful dancer, but a skilled dance teacher as well.
Laura will soon be teaching at the NEW The Aura Studio in Crescent Springs, KY starting in July. It is owned and operated by the Bondaura ladies and I hear it is an amazing space.
Laura will be teaching classes for beginning and intermediate students in the Egyptian Cabaret style. She teaches posture, basic moves, transitioning from one move to another, combos, veil work and different props, choreography and improv, etc. Her classes focus on moving our bodies, empowering ourselves and having fun!!
I took belly dancing a few years ago, but I did not continue with it. It is great exercise and a lot of hard work -- I guess I am a bit of a belly dancing back slider. I learned some steps and movements and had great fun. What I like are the dances with veils and the expressive hands of the dancers. All of the dancing is visually awesome and the costumes are beautiful! Belly dancing troupes can be found all around town from festivals in the parks to local restaurants.
Watch for the Grand Opening of The Aura Studio at www.theaurastudio.com, I hear it is is beautiful, warm and welcoming and will also offers massage therapy, strength and stamina and yoga classes. The Bondaura ladies have really created a wonderful atmosphere! As Laura would say, "Hugs & Shimmies" to you all!
